Sustainability is more than a trend; it is a "fair obligation": The new Carlowitz Congress Center Chemnitz focuses on this responsibility and offers space for up to 1,000 conference participants in 11 open and sustainably designed seminar and conference rooms. Regional food, sustainable mobility, green energy and our social agenda make the Carlowitz a centre for knowledge and conscience!
Sustainable event location in Chemnitz: Here comes the future!
The Carlowitz Congress Center Chemnitz was designed and planned with sustainability in mind from the very beginning. As a conversion and extension of the traditional Stadthalle, it forms the starting point for ecological and sustainable events in Chemnitz. Architect Peter Koch had a special role in this, as he had already been part of the team of architects responsible for the construction of the Stadthalle as a young man, and now, together with the Berlin architectural firm studioinges and his team, he is the head of the new era of events in Chemnitz: "You can't build more sustainably than in this building. Everything that is already there is also being used. In addition, only natural materials such as natural stone and glass are used here," explains the experienced architect.
Hall for up to 2,100 guests - that's what the Chemnitz City Hall has to offer!
In addition to the sustainable conversion inside, the outdoor areas were also completely redesigned. A forecourt with a quality of stay has been created, as the responsible landscape architect Stefan Leiste explains. The existing trees remained untouched and were integrated into the new exterior design. These were supplemented by topiary shrubs, raised beds and a 20-metre-wide and one-metre-high sign to make the venue visible, even in the dark. The special detail: our own bee colonies live on the roof of the new congress centre.

Sustainability at events: With our concept "by design"!
However, the sustainability of the Carlowitz Congress Center Chemnitz does not end with structural issues. In the spirit of its namesake, Hans Carl von Carlowitz, the Chemnitz native and inventor of the concept of sustainability, our vision is in every detail of the Congress Center:
- Ideal space for knowledge exchange
- Facilitating car-free travel
- Regional, seasonal and fair-trade food and drinks
- Healthy diet
- Waste avoidance, recycling and consistent waste separation
- Green electricity and district heating through cogeneration
- District cooling from the region
- Social commitment for employees and associations
- Transparent action and open dialogue
- Certification according to "fairpflichtet

We have taken the idea of ecological events a step further. In our sustainability concept, "knowledge" and the exchange between the conference topics are of central importance, because: A conference can only be sustainable if information, insights and experiences are widely disseminated and can lead to new ideas and solutions. But we also integrate the urban society and commit ourselves to transparency. The bicycle boxes and electric charging stations on the event grounds are also part of the Congress Centre. The offer will be supplemented by an event app that organisers and their guests can use to organise their congress visit paperlessly.
We are convinced that it does not necessarily have to be ONE big thing that changes the climate in a positive way. True to the motto "Many small steps can change the world", we are convinced that not everything has to happen at once. Even small adjustments can make an event more sustainable. Not only at ceimzeit.de do we like to share tips and tricks to make an event sustainable, attractive and efficient. The focus is on exchange: knowledge is not imparted by pointing the finger, as the many new event formats prove, but by meeting people at eye level. This is exactly the aspect we focus on at the Carlowitz.
Even more in the countryside? Our "multifunctional castle" in Klaffenbach offers a wide range of options for event managers.
Sustainable event management: space for innovative formats
The rooms of the Carlowitz Congress Centre Chemnitz offer an individual range of spaces. From the roots to the treetop: elements from nature are reflected in the design of the rooms. From the large Carlowitz Hall for up to 600 people to the smaller, light-flooded Lux, the Carlowitz offers an inspiring space for every format. Particularly noteworthy is the Vulcanus with its arena seating on steps: Up to 150 people can find space here in an open, relaxed atmosphere to exchange ideas in innovative formats.
Whether barcamp, fishbowl or world café - the Carlowitz is the perfect place for creating resonant events. Individuality is encouraged, and the needs of event organisers and project managers are not only at the forefront of our rooms. We see ourselves as all-round consultants and take care of our clients' concerns from A to Z. In cooperation with you, we plan the room allocation, take care of fair catering, organise technical extras and try to fulfil all wishes. The focus is always on allowing knowledge to flow openly - even the architecture supports exchange, creates spaces for inspiration and dialogue, but also retreats for relaxation and recharging.

Sustainable event locations: certified and awarded
Organisers and event managers can be happy about the highest quality at the Carlowitz Congress Center Chemnitz and about the sustainability concept. Our company made a "fair commitment" at an early stage - and organises events in accordance with the Sustainability Code of the German-speaking event industry. The Board of Trustees of the German Federal Environmental Foundation (DBU) has decided to hold the important award for sustainability in Germany, the German Environmental Award, at the Carlowitz Congress Center Chemnitz in 2025.
Here's where the action is: meetings and get-togethers in the Chemnitz football stadium.
Conclusion: Since September 2020, the new Carlowitz Congress Center Chemnitz has offered a venue for diverse event formats and consistently implements the claim of sustainable event management: energy, mobility, catering, architecture, social aspects - all aspects were precisely analysed and consistently implemented.
